A fine large scale Val St Lambert Vase with five sides
divided by vertical fluting and each side cut with discs. Stamped
Val Saint Lambert, Belgique Belgium, circa 1930
Height 10in
(25cm) Diameter 6 1/2in (17cm) Perfect condition besides a
small 5mm chip to the horizontal cutting on the lower section - visible
in the image with the two vertical bands of green, it is on the lower
left hand side on the underside of the middle horizontal band. This vase has everything that makes Val Saint Lambert
glass special—green glass applied over a high quality crystal, cut in an
elegant pattern that makes the most of the optic properties of lead crystal.
This bull's eye pattern has sections of vertical fluting that alternate with sections
of round, concave punties or "bulls eye" cuts. The green glass is
applied to the clear glass while it is still molten and then the object is
blown. After the shape is created and has been annealed to room temperature,
the piece is cut using stone wheels.
